About Provident

The Challenge

Provident had a CRM problem most financial services teams will recognize. Building one campaign took a week, spanned four disconnected systems, and pulled in marketing, IT, and the contact center every time. Personalization was also basic. Provident, part of International Personal Finance (IPF), ran a competitive procurement process and selected MoEngage as its strategic customer engagement platform for its omnichannel reach, agentic capabilities, and real-time customer insights.

The Challenge

We had outgrown tools that needed 4 systems and hours to run a single campaign. With MoEngage we work in real time, we personalize on far more than a name, and we have a partner who actually understands our business.

Campaigns that took at least a week now take minutes, and we reach customers we never could before, whether that is 50,000 lapsed customers in one win-back send or a visitor we catch the second they are about to leave. MoEngage has been transformational.

I used to stack calculation fields and hope they were right, and one campaign could eat my whole day. Now I build a segment in minutes, run every channel from a single flow, and save at least 30% of my time. To me, MoEngage is the future.

The Solution

The team needed real-time capability, automation at scale, and measurement they could trust across four markets: Poland, Hungary, Romania, and the Czech Republic. They evaluated more than ten vendors, shortlisted three, and chose MoEngage. The migration moved over four million user profiles onto one platform. Building campaigns and creating audiences became simpler and faster. What used to take at least a week now takes about fifteen minutes for a straightforward campaign. Setting up a segment used to mean stacking calculation fields. Now it takes two or three attributes. And in Hungary, one flow replaced twelve separate campaigns.

Here is how the lifecycle program now runs with MoEngage:

Building trust from day one of onboarding

For a lender, that first week sets expectations on repayments and builds trust before the first installment is due. From day one, new customers get welcome and educational messages across email and SMS, covering what Provident offers and how it works.

Conversion at the moment of intent

Provident can now identify a known customer on its website in real time. With the customer's consent, MoEngage matches the visit to their profile and reads it as a signal of intent. Instead of pushing an offer to a million-record database, the team targets the hundred or so people actually shopping for a loan right now. The same data drives the exit-intent pop-up. When a visitor moves to leave, MoEngage serves a personalized message and can offer a relevant second product on the spot, such as insurance alongside a loan. This was a net-new capability, since the team could not run on-site campaigns before. A pop-up takes five to ten minutes to build, and against a control group it keeps up to 30% more visitors on the site, which means more applications.

Retention built with consent rules inside the flow

Provident's birthday program is purely for goodwill. It offers no promotional discounts and runs year-round on autopilot. A conditional split routes each customer by consent: email if there is email consent, SMS if not. The consent and channel rules sit inside the flow, so automation never outruns compliance. A campaign like this, one they expected to wrestle with, took about ten minutes to go live. For a regulated lender, that is the point. Speed only matters if compliance travels with it, and here the consent rules are part of the flow itself.

Reactivation that recovers revenue from a dormant base

Provident has 25 years of former customers. Reaching them used to depend on agents, which does not scale. Now it runs automatically. Weekly cohorts go out across SMS, email, and the call center, with contact rules that control frequency and follow-ups that switch channels when the first attempt goes unanswered. Those campaigns convert up to 8% every week. That is lower than the 30% rate among active customers, but it is recovered revenue from a base that was out of reach before.
